Each week of our program is carefully designed to explore essential aspects of social-emotional development, facilitated through interactions with our wise and intuitive equine partners.

Week 1
The Calm State - Nervous System and Emotional Regulation

In the first week of our program, we dive into the importance of achieving a state of calm. Just like horses, we explore how our nervous systems function and the significance of emotional regulation. By observing horses' natural behaviours such as expressing their feelings, yawning, taking outbreaths, relaxing their bodies, being near friends, running, and rolling, we learn how to bring ourselves back to a calm state. Discover how our brains and bodies thrive when we are in a state of calm.

Week 2
Boundaries - Our 'Yes' and 'No'

During the second week, we explore the concept of boundaries—our personal preferences, likes, dislikes, and what feels okay or not okay to us. Horses serve as models of healthy boundaries, communicating clearly through their body language. Through engaging activities and discussions, we delve into the importance of setting boundaries within ourselves and with others. Explore the realms of voice boundaries, touch boundaries, and personal space boundaries, and learn to establish and respect them.

Week 3
Understanding Feelings


Feelings play a vital role in our lives, and in this week, we draw inspiration from horses to deepen our understanding of emotions. Horses, just like humans, experience a wide range of feelings—joy, fear, anger, and sadness—and they demonstrate healthy ways of feeling, expressing, and releasing emotions. We create a safe space to explore and embrace all feelings, fostering emotional intelligence and empathy for ourselves and others.

Week 4
Building Healthy Relationships

Healthy relationships are essential for our overall well-being, and horses serve as powerful reflections of what it takes to create and maintain them. Week 4 focuses on the key elements of healthy relationships, including trust, respect, communication, support, common interests, and, of course, healthy boundaries. Through experiential exercises and observations of horse-human interactions, we gain insights into the foundations of nurturing and fulfilling connections with others.

Week 5
Self-Talk - The Power of Thoughts

Our thoughts and self-talk significantly impact our feelings and behaviours. Horses are incredibly perceptive beings, sensing our intentions, energy, body language, and emotions. Week 5 invites us to become aware of our internal dialogue and offers techniques to cultivate kind and helpful thoughts. Explore the transformative potential of positive self-talk, empowering yourself to shape your emotions, behaviours, and ultimately, your life.

Week 6
Facing Challenges

In the final week of our program, we reflect on the insights and skills gained throughout the journey. We celebrate our growth and remember a time when we successfully utilized various techniques, such as using our out-breath, practising awareness, expressing our 'yes' and 'no,' managing our feelings, offering ourselves kind thoughts, and creating safe relationships. By integrating these tools, we become better equipped to face the challenges that life presents us with.
